Things to Do

Well, recently I have begun keeping a day planner, which I resent with ever fiber in me. I don't like feeling that I am so forgetful and disorganized that I have to do something to remind me of how I need to be more organized. Or, maybe I resent having so many things to do right now.

School is going well. I am working hard at my thesis, and loving teaching the fourth grade. I dislike filing out teaching applications, since every district has a set of three or four essays. I am anxious to get a job, and worried that I won't, even though I know I will.

My living situation is up in the air for ths summer. I want to make arrangements to live on campus again, but Res. Life is dragging their feet. So, we'll have to see about that...and I hate not knowing where I will be living in two months.

For those of you who don't know already, Bill and I have gotten engaged. No date yet, so don't ask. You'll just have to wait and see. Until next time...have a fantastic one!!!

Spring is in the Air

Although I have been teaching solo for a while now, last Friday was my first day without ever seeing my lead teacher. She called in sick. So, instead, I collaborated with the other grade level teachers.

My students seem to have a case of spring fever. Coming in from lunch on Friday, my students were resentful of being inside. It was understandable, being such a beautiful day. Needless to say, my students were rather distracted and excited during my math lesson that afternoon. I can't pinpoint a student who was really misbehaving more than another, or at least a student who misbehaved more than usual. Day's where the sun is shining bright and the breeze is perfect, it is hard being inside. However, during this lesson I did find myself doing quite a bit of discipline, and after an entire morning of testing, I understand the kids were having trouble focusing.

After the day was over, and I had excused my students and said good-by to each of them, I went to the room next door to chat with another teacher. To my relief, she had had similar problems with her kids. Spring fever had hit, we decided.
