Spring is in the Air
Although I have been teaching solo for a while now, last Friday was my first day without ever seeing my lead teacher. She called in sick. So, instead, I collaborated with the other grade level teachers.
My students seem to have a case of spring fever. Coming in from lunch on Friday, my students were resentful of being inside. It was understandable, being such a beautiful day. Needless to say, my students were rather distracted and excited during my math lesson that afternoon. I can't pinpoint a student who was really misbehaving more than another, or at least a student who misbehaved more than usual. Day's where the sun is shining bright and the breeze is perfect, it is hard being inside. However, during this lesson I did find myself doing quite a bit of discipline, and after an entire morning of testing, I understand the kids were having trouble focusing.
After the day was over, and I had excused my students and said good-by to each of them, I went to the room next door to chat with another teacher. To my relief, she had had similar problems with her kids. Spring fever had hit, we decided.

Hmmm... I seem to have a lot of my 4th grade self still in me because I'm feeling the same thing. There are a lot more exciting things buzzing around outside than in the classroom.
Some wind we've been having eh?
